Deep blue dial in a 44mm Carbotech case
Panerai calls this QuarantaQuattro Carbotech model Blu Abisso. On the Panerai Submersible PAM1232 replica the dial is a deep blue, lighter at the centre and darkening toward the bezel, with CARBOTECH printed in white above the 6. White lume fills the round plots, the double bar at 12 and the batons. The small seconds run on a dotted track at 9, and the date window at 3 shows white figures on blue.
Blue rubber and an engraved back
Case and bezel are black Carbotech with a striped, marbled grain that shows best in the macro shot, and the bezel carries a lume pip at 12 and numbered quarter markers. On the solid back, a frogman on a torpedo is engraved together with the word Carbotech and an edition number in an engraved box. The 44mm case sits on a blue rubber strap with a raised Panerai logo, closed by a black brushed pin buckle.
Blue in steel and in a bronze tone
The Blu Profondo PAM1289 is the steel take on a blue QuarantaQuattro, with a glossy blue bezel, a dial that shades to almost black and a canvas strap. In a warmer metal, the bronze tone PAM1074 pairs a deep blue dial with a 42mm case. Our Carbotech and Bronzo guide explains both case materials, and the Submersible category page has every reference we list.
Is the PAM1232 the same as the Bronzo Blu Abisso?
No. Both have deep blue dials, but the PAM1232 is 44mm black Carbotech on blue rubber, while the PAM1074 is a 42mm bronze tone case on a suede-look strap.
How does the blue look in daylight?
Bright at the centre, fading to near navy at the rim; under the black bezel it reads darker than the steel PAM1289.
